 Hi Kim! And welcome!  There are plenty of folks on this forum that have built the Orchid and can give you specific hints during construction.  I have not, and can only offer general advice. (I do mostly rehabs)

My advice: Take your time. Read through the instructions. You may need to sand/adjust the tabs and/or slots in order for things to fit precisely. Always do a "dry fit" first. Masking tape is your friend...and so is spackle.  Paint parts before assembly whenever possible- it makes for a much neater finished house.  You can also paint all main house parts with a good primer first-except for floors or anything that you will want to stain.  This will seal the wood and helps prevent 'bleed-thru' when applying wallpaper. DO NOT USE HOT GLUE, as Holly said...a good wood glue is better.

And most importantly: Have FUN!

WELCOME with your new Orchid!!!  I have so much trouble with kits, so I either kit bash or build from scratch in 1:12 or 1:6 (action figure size).  I still consider myself a beginner after 3 years of building.  I learn new things all the time.  The members here will help and encourage for sure.
