Kimbergal
I just purchased The Orchid. I have no experience so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh by the way, I'm from Tennessee.
havanaholly
Welcome to the little family, kim. There are two team building blogs for the Orchid. Do NOT use hot glue and do dry fit first.
jbnmini
Hi Kim! And welcome! There are plenty of folks on this forum that have built the Orchid and can give you specific hints during construction. I have not, and can only offer general advice. (I do mostly rehabs) My advice: Take your time. Read through the instructions. You may need to sand/adjust the tabs and/or slots in order for things to fit precisely. Always do a "dry fit" first. Masking tape is your friend...and so is spackle. Paint parts before assembly whenever possible- it makes for a much neater finished house. You can also paint all main house parts with a good primer first-except for floors or anything that you will want to stain. This will seal the wood and helps prevent 'bleed-thru' when applying wallpaper. DO NOT USE HOT GLUE, as Holly said...a good wood glue is better. And most importantly: Have FUN!

amyole
Welcome, Kim. The Orchid is a lovely house - the first one I ever built (but, back in the day, pre-Forum, & used hot glue ). Enjoy!
Emerald
WELCOME with your new Orchid!!! I have so much trouble with kits, so I either kit bash or build from scratch in 1:12 or 1:6 (action figure size). I still consider myself a beginner after 3 years of building. I learn new things all the time. The members here will help and encourage for sure.
