So adorable!  You could take a page from Debora (dalesq) and repurpose a lighthouse:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/213365246/148th-lighthouse-kit-dolls-house-14

I also think this house is very cute:  https://jillcastoral.com/miniatures/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=129 and could work for Peter Rabbit.

Me, too!

Thank you both! :)

Pat, it’s funny, but when I first started this build my resident was going to be a rabbit. I was searching for an appropriate rabbit doll/avatar and found the moon man and the house demanded he live there. I’ve learned to never argue with the house!

Holly's idea of an oatmeal container, or something similar would work well as a base. Hardware stores have large PVC pipe, or a construction form for cement. Depending upon how big or how many rooms you want your house to have, at 1:48 you might even be able to find a hollowed out piece of branch or small trunk. If you know anyone with property, might be worth an ask. I’m looking forward to seeing what you decide to do. :D

Sometimes big box hardware stores will let you take those ginormous heavy cardboard rolls carpeting comes on, but for 1:48 it seemed that an  oatmeal box would serve as well.

What great suggestions.  This is going to be a lot more challenging since there doesn't seem to be any 'kit' out there that will make a nice big tree stump dollhouse.  Those cottages sure have the 'feel' I'm looking for just not big enough.  I'd like to wind up with more rooms.  So the search goes on.  I'm figuring that Holly's idea of the oatmeal box will be a direction I go in.  Spreading it open and adding paper mache?  I want it to look sweet but gnarly too.

You can wad up strips of old newspaper or paper grocery bags and glue them onto your box before paperclaying over everything to get gnarly.  More than one oatmeal box, cut & spread, for the stump of a big tree?

Thank you Holly.  Yes - that wadded-up paper underneath the paper mache is a great idea.  YEARS ago I did some pinatas using paper mache and so maybe it'll be fun.
