New Member with an ACP Victorian

11 posts in this topic

Good afternoon!  A new member here with an American Craft Products Victorian home.  The kit was a Christmas present from my parents (1979?) and my dad and I began the task of building, wiring, and painting.  We were subscribers to Nutshell News and went to dollhouse shows for ideas and accessories.  At one point, we just stopped - can’t remember why - and it remained unfinished in their basement.  We joked about completing it but never did.  They passed away, my siblings and I had to clean out their house, and this had to be relocated.  I’m going to finish what was started and I’m excited about the things I will learn from you pros on this forum.  I’m lucky I have the parts necessary (doors, windows, stairs, wallpaper) because in doing research, I see some of these manufacturers (Handley House, Schumacher in Miniature) may not always be available.  This house is 42” tall and 35” long.  I’d upload a photo but file size is too large.

Welcome to the little family, Christine.  You can resize your photo.  When you have made five posts you can make an album here in the gallery, and take photos of the rest of the finish and put them all there.

Oh, can’t wait to see photos of what this house looks like! :)

ACP House kits are rare to find.

My sister had the Queen Anne.  My dad was ambitious thinking he could build two of these for daughters.  Hers never made it out of the box.  I’m eager to check out your blog as well and see what the QA really could turn into!  Nice to meet you!

Do you (or your sister) still have the Queen Anne? I have one in half scale (it's the house in my avatar) and have another half scale kit still in the box. It's a great house, and very hard to find in either scale. If you still have it, you should hold onto it in case you get bitten by the mini bug and decide one dollhouse isn't enough. It's happened to most of us!

She sort of gave it to a very close family friend who does a lot of modeling/toy soldier painting.  She was not interested in building it or taking on such an involved project.  If he ever gets around to it, she wants to see the evolution of it but he's a busy guy.  It may be sitting encased for a long while yet.

Or you might have so much fun finishing your Victorian that you sort of take it off the guy's hands and build it for yourself to play with.
