Judy Buchsel
I'm building my second dollhouse, the Beacon Hill and I suppose to put the porch on next but the say siding the porch first is best...can I go ahead and side it underneath the windows, trim etc???...I was hoping there are others building it too!! Thank you
havanaholly
I lay the trims and frames over their corresponding openings on the bare walls and trace around them and butt the siding up to the traced lines. The first house I ever sided was the Westville and I installed all the frames & trims on top and had issues with getting porch parts to fit. Judy Buchsel
Thank you! I'm also trying to figure out how the trim g ies on the Mansard roof. Do you put it over the shingles I hope? I haven't had any problems with this house but I'm not sure about all the trim.l.there is so much! But I love building!
rbytsdy
Welcome, Judy; I installed my BH window trim and mansard roof trim over the siding and shingles respectively: That does make for some awkward spots due to this trim sticking out further than it's really supposed to, like Holly said, and one ends up doing alot of filling (glue and spackle, I would use). The upside is that one doesn't end up having to cut fancy shapes to deal with the window features or roof curves. Six of one, half dozen of the other. And I did side and paint the porch wall area before I installed the porch posts etc.
