Mrs. 2Bscale
Funny how one hobby leads to another. I have started a back yard project. A tiny world you could say. I build mostly custom RC scale truck and stuff from scratch. Their fun to drive, That brings us too recently purchasing two Orchid kits for my old farm theme back yard little word that seems to be transpiring. I've been creating all sorts of miniatures that I hope look the part. So why I am waiting for the kits to arrive, I would like to share the few things so far constructed. Enjoy and thanks for looking.

Mrs. 2Bscale
All things are completely scratch built 1/12 scale. Even have the ole tree house started. Should be great entertainment to keep 7 grand children occupied. Edited February 19, 2019 by 2Bscale

PapaJKK
I am duly impressed! Those are amazing scratchbuilds. You have inspired my to create an album of my own scratchbuilt railroad models in 1:20.3 scale. John

Mrs. 2Bscale
Thank you all for the encouragement's. Very Very appreciated. And...… The more I research, The more I'm changing my mind on a outside project house. Truly fascinating to see all the work achieved on this forums. So many fantastic beautiful builds..... I'm in awe...lol That being said, For my first House. I'll put forth the efforts in to make a Doll house for my 3 Granddaughters. And I've enlisted my wife to help with the girly touches. ahaahahaa. Now comes the agenizing wait till Monday....(Both kits should arrive)...ugh Thanks again everyone. @PaPaJkk.I used to model 1.48 scale model railroads. Concentrated mostly on the custom Logging short line stuff. Very fascinating on equipment and geared engines they ran. Think you may enjoy this tractor truck I'm just finishing for a great friend in NY. Enjoy and thanks for looking.
PapaJKK
Holly, I took a 2 month hiatus from building during the holidays. Mainly because my building area reverted back to the dining room and kitchen table. I've been working on the lighthouse keepers house and will post pictures sometime soon. The lighthouse itself just needs a few interior lights installed and it will be finished, maybe. Ron, short line, narrow gauge steam logging is my area of interest also. Geared engines and one-off, unusual logging cars especially. I love your boom truck.
Mrs. 2Bscale
"Humble Beginnings" I've already customized the windows and pretty much scratch built the things, and added real wood strips to the pane area. Plans are to go lap board siding to bring a bit more to it. Screen door is scratch built and weathered. Not sure on direction of looks, But I imagine I'll mark this little house up for n00b practice and weather it up some later to hide all the Oop'sy's. I like the looks of Old things that tell a story and have characters of their own. Anywhooo. Couple of progress pictures. Enjoy and thanks for looking. All advice and wisdom shared will be greatly appreciated on my threads and builds.
KathieB
Looking good, Ron! You are probably a more careful builder than some of us, but many of us install the windows last to avoid glue and paint on the window panes.
Sable
Just to be clear, is this house going to be outside? If so, what are you using to weatherproof it?
Mrs. 2Bscale
Thanks' you two. @kathieB. Windows are just a tight fit. Can be popped out for more sanding and painting. Then I will try to use clear shoegoo to attach window plastic once all finished. I have a start to some Lap boarding too. Yeah.. Thank you. @Sable I'm not sure if this one will end up out side or not yet. Kinda depends If I can make it look legit. ahahaha Most likely will be a indoor Piece for the 3 grand daughters. But If it goes out side...lots of paint and lots of matte finish inside and out to seal it up good. The area I have in back yard is under huge pine trees...Mostly protected from the elements. Would Not be left out in rain or snow.
havanaholly
Ron, what did you use for the screen? I used an old nylon stocking to screen the front porch on my Coventry Cottage: I agree that it should stay indoors for the grands to play with!
Mrs. 2Bscale
Hi Holly I used real antique Screen from a very old window. naturally weathered already. Nylon would definitely look more realist though and scale. Awesome share. I'll stick that trick under the old hat. I'll have to ask my wife to pick up some stocking of sorts. She don't ware nylons so highly doubt their are any to pilfer around our Ranch. lol I'd mostly likely get very strange looks in our little town If I stood and browsed over what to buy at the stores ..ahahahahaa Beautiful little house too. where did you get the roofing material (tin) for it ? Front porch and bay window really draws the eye in.
Mrs. 2Bscale
Very happy with results. On to the right hand side, Going to enlarge the bay window look and give it more floor space is my thoughts. Maybe a porch above that area, Wish me luck.....haaaa Enjoy and thanks for looking. havanaholly
2 hours ago, 2Bscale said: ...where did you get the roofing material (tin) for it ?... The Greenleaf kits come in very nice corrugated cardboard boxes that, when dampened, peel off the layer dampened. The ripply middle layer is then cut into pieces, using the kit roof parts as templates, and sprayed with silvery Rustoleum aerosol paint. Mrs. 2Bscale
So sneaky......hehehehee It really fools the eye and looks the part. Huge thank you for knowledge shared. I will be trying that on a out building of sorts for my other projects. I've been seriously pondering on how to construct something along those lines for the right looks. And cost effective. Bonus.
