TimothyHH
Hi all, I'm just getting back into the hobby after a 25 year absence. Currently I'm rehabbing the last house I built which was back in 1994. The house has held up really well over the years (a Walmer house, possibly was called Brookshire but not sure) with only the front door being completely broken (but all windows intact). Somehow most of the furniture and accessories stayed with the house too although some of it was broken beyond repair. I'd say it's about 50% old stuff and 50% new. The tapewire system ceased working many years ago so I removed it. All the flooring and wallpaper is new. This has mostly been a redecorating project although I'm using the opportunity to test my detail skills that I never tried before, mostly floorboards and what not. I have a RGT Beachside Bungalow in the box waiting for me when this is finished which I'll use to re-test my building skills. After that, if I still have the energy, I have a grand plan to turn a RGT Victoria's Farmhouse into a 3-5 bedroom, 1.5-2.5 bathroom house, but we shall see. My main pet peeve with nearly all kits is the lack of dedicated bathrooms and hallways so I was really disappointed when coming back to find out that the RGT New Concept series had been discontinued since it was only those houses (and the Walmers before them) that included bathrooms. Other houses I've built were the Bobbi(1991), the Van Buren (1991), the Dura-Craft farmhouse (1992-93ish) and the mystery Walmer house (1994). Apparently I have a knack for finding the discontinued or soon to be discontinued kits. All but the Walmer became firewood long ago. Anyway, that is my introduction and brief miniaturing history! -Tim
Mid-life madness
Hi Tim Sounds like you have a lot of experience. I love discontinued hard to find dollhouses, so do many of the members here. Your Farmhouse idea sounds wonderful. ~~Carrie~~
TimothyHH
Hi Carrie, I'm really sad about the New Concept series discontinuation. I had eyed those over years whenever I toyed with the idea of coming back. Seems like a few places still have some in stock but the prices are eye-watering. Were they always that much money? -Tim

I don't know enough about the brand history, but today RGT products run higher, but are still an affordable option compared to the really high end house. Put in a link to the places where you are seeing the houses. I'm not sure which 'New Concept' you are referring too. RGT just came out with a New England style "New Concept" range. havanaholly
Welcome to the little family, Tim. I have added walls (and doors) to kits to make bathrooms.
TimothyHH
Here's the link to one of the retailers claiming to still have the RGT New Concept houses: https://www.minishop.com/real_good_toys_dollhouses.htm. And here's the link to RGT's page which says they've been discontinued: https://www.realgoodtoys.com/collections/1-inch-scale-design-families-new-concept-dollhouses. The new New England houses disappoint me a little bit: https://www.realgoodtoys.com/collections/new-england-dollhouses.

Now I understand. Yea, the New England stuff is boring. Mini shops prices do seem high, and I wonder if they have any in stock too. I suggest you start haunting eBay, Etsy, Craigslist, Offer-up. Oldies but goodies pop up on there all the time. There is a thread here were people also post interesting miniatures for sell. http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/?app=forums&module=forums&controller=topic&id=40575&page=181#comment-683545
amyole
Looked at the thread for New England concept houses. How is Jamestown (name of one of the kits) part of New England?????? Someone at RGT may need a geography lesson. LOL
