Not so new but kinda... :-)

I introduced myself roughly 5 yrs ago. I had The Aster that I purchased many years ago and never unboxed (we moved a LOT in those early years). I finally unboxed it 4 years ago and came in here to learn and build. However, the wood was really dry and brittle after so many years making it very difficult to work with. I did get the shell built and put an eggshell foundation on it. But then we moved again right after I started construction. Now, many of the pieces are missing, and during the move, the second-floor cracked. I decided to order a new one instead of trying to figure out how to fix this one.

So, any suggestion on where. can go to see a how-to start to finish? I saw another post talking about dry fitting??? That seems to be the most difficult part, which steps to do at what point.

Anyway, I'm now in Minnesota, if anyone is around would love to chat!

Welcome back  home, Kim.  The whole point of dry fitting before you commit to glue is to figure out the instructions and whether you will need to deviate from them to build the way that's comfortable for you.  I find that starting with the foundation and then the walls works best for me; once the basic shell/ carcase is together with tape I can look at it and figure out what goes where and have conversations with it.

Hey, Holly! Thanks, so you just fit it with just tape?? Makes sense actually, I tend to jump right in and that is what caused the problem to begin with. I'll give dry fitting a try this time.

You don't have to put the entire house into dry fit all at once, although with a smaller house, like the Aster, it's probably easier; I do tend to put the whole carcase together in dry fit because I want to see what I'll have to decorate before I glue it up, since usually I just decorate as I go along.
