wall covering

My Thornhill house has wiring for lighting inside and I want to wallpaper some walls, but make others plain. Will I have to paste a plain coloured piece of paper to hide the wiring? What weight of paper is best?

Thanks Carrie -- the lights are not working, They were set up such a long time ago. I have a friend who will look at them with me and try to help. Otherwise I might call in my electrician friend!

I’ve looked at the tapewire layout from your photo. I’m guessing brads were used and not eyelets. Now that you’ve mentioned that they don’t work I’d rip them out and start over with a more simplistic layout. I’m going to attach a YouTube using the “floor method”. This method places the tapewire on the floor and under the baseboards. Floors are removable by simply sliding them out from under the baseboards. This method makes it perfect for painting your walls without the inevitable lumps from tapewire.

Thanks Sable, I’ll check out the current system first as it was done for me a long time ago and I’ve never tried myself! If there’s a serious problem I’ll rip them out! But don’t think I can buy tap wires in SA, so that would be an issue.
