PhDmomto3
I am looking to modify my Vermont Farmhouse Jr. and was wondering how essential the first floor room divider is to the structural integrity of the house? I was thinking I might like to construct it with a large, open living-dining-kitchen but I know the house is heavy and I don't want the second floor sagging. Ideas, thoughts, personal experiences? Thanks! Edited September 23, 2019 by PhDmomto3
havanaholly
Ornamental columns?
MJ Dixon
Or maybe wood beams that run across the ceiling. Maybe something as hard as oak would help.
chapchap73
I built this house without the downstairs divider because I wanted a large open space. I have had no problems with the structure. It's in my album I'm in Love
amyole
Is your house made out of MDF? If so, I don't think it would sag - that stuff is pretty sturdy. If you are concerned, I would echo putting in columns.
