Nutmegan
Hi, I live in SW Indiana. I got a Fairfield 1/24 kit for Christmas. I've been wanting to do a dollhouse for years. I had one 35 or so years ago, but it disappeared in a divorce. I might as well be totally new to the hobby. I know there are a couple of changes I want to make, stairs to attic and door to tower room. I have no idea how to do that. I cross stitch and sew as other hobbys. I've been looking at paint schemes on both dollhouses and real Victorian style houses on line and have gotten an idea what the external colors will be. I want to electrify it, mostly because I want the fireplaces to glow. I can't wait to get started, but I have to go back to work Thursday. My son moved out a couple months ago and his old bedroom will be mom's room. Is there anywhere to find the floor plan for the kit? I'm trying to visualize the layout and keep getting confused. Thanks for any tips.
havanaholly
Welcome to the little family, Pat. I built two Fairfields, one of them inside out: http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/?app=gallery&module=gallery&controller=browse&album=3404 You want to invest in a roll of masking tape or blue painter's tape and put together your kit using tape, rather than glue, to see how the thing goes together and what it will look like ( I dry fit both of mine several times, as they wanted to be halves of a single Bar Harbor summer cottage and wanted lots of bashing). fov
Welcome to the forum! I don't know of a floorplan, but looking at pictures of other people's Fairfields will help you get an idea of how the rooms are laid out. Here's my blog post from when I assembled the shell: https://www.emilymorganti.com/blog/?p=8825 You can see the rest of my Fairfield posts here: https://www.emilymorganti.com/blog/?tag=greenleaf-fairfield (they're in reverse chronological order, so go to the last post to start at the beginning) And if you search the Gallery here on the Greenleaf forum you'll find a lot of other Fairfields that are nicer than mine! I also cross stitch and I mostly make dollhouse rugs now since framing of life-sized pieces is so expensive.
