Sharon-UK
I've always admired the McKinley wall-hung house, and I am considering building a 1/24th scale version to house my 'Miss Lydia Pickett' furniture which I am building. Does anyone know of anyone who has done something like this? I've been looking at the structure and it is fairly complicated, lol. I know that I can buy components like doors, bay windows, staircases etc. in 1/24th scale. The normal house is 9 inches deep according to the Greenleaf site, I would likely retain that (rather than halve it) because that would be a nice 18 feet in 1/24th scale so plenty of room for a full room layout. Also I guess I would need to buy a table saw (frightening thought) to rip all the straight lines. Here in the UK we have MDF which is a commonly available building material. I think thin plywood (like the Greenleaf kits) is not so available though, but it would be lighter-weight. Also, how is the McKinley actually hung on the wall? I can't see any protruding hooks in the blog photos. Many thanks, Sharon
nuttiwebgal
there is already a 1/2 scale McKinley and it is called the Victorianna you can find it on e-bay sometimes. as for how it hangs....there are 2 holes on the back wall which you reinforce wit parts from the kit. good luck in your quest nutti
Sharon-UK
I am stunned! I had no idea it had already been done. I looked at your photos and I want one so badly now. Although I still think that I would have to make it deeper but I could likely kit-bash that. Will now make it my mission to try to track one down. Many thanks for this, Sharon
havanaholly
Dean had listed it in a poll of discontinued kits we'd like him to reissue and it seemed like it got a great many votes. watch ebay for it and good luck.
