smallhouset
David, you are so right no one will ever be Sherlock but Basil Rathbone. I have seen all of the Sherlock Holmes movies he made. Even reading the books I picture Rathbone. Of course Boris Karlof was wonderful but don't forget Bela Legosi or Lon Chaney both Junior and Senior. At one time the Phantom of the Opera was the scariest movie ever made. I would rather watch a horror movie from the 30's,40's and 50's than the stuff thats put out now. Alot of the new ones are just remakes of the old ones any way. Today they make things scarey with the use of computers, but in the old days they had to do it with music, lighting, dialog and make-up. Much harder and to me much more impressive. Gve me an old horror movie anytime, or a 50's space movie. The Day the Earth Stood Still is a classic. terri
havanaholly
Two "older" movies that scared the stew out of me were "Dr Strangelove" & "On the Beach".
