peiji
I know that they say 5 bags of shingles but from where? It seems like everyone sells their own bags of shingles but who can tell how many are in a bag? Where do i get them? What's the cheapest place? What do you recommend for the Harrison? Minis On The Edge
When Greenleaf suggests a certain amount of bags for siding or shingles, they are referring to there own brand of shingles (Under the Corona/Greenleaf line). They sell for about $5.99 a bag. You can order them direct from the company if the place you purchased your house does not have any in. Welcome to the Greenleaf Community!! havanaholly
Welcome to the forum, peiji, the Harrison is a house I'd like to build some day. The Hobby Builders' Supply catalogue notes their builder used 12 (100 count@ $2.99) bags of the cedar square butt shingles they sell. I think when I build it I'll simulate tile roofing using either card/ lightweight posterboard or construction paper (or some combination of them). I simulated roofing slates on my Glencroft (see havanaholly's Glencroft blog for pictures & how-to). You could also make shingles from sandpaper or papermache eggcartons or the fastfood trays.
