Vintage Christmas Putz Feather Tree Stand

Vintage Christmas Putz Feather Tree Stand

This was a very different project for me!  I did some research and discovered that the tree stands of this type were made for a German Feather Tree -an early artificial tree.  This was a Pennsylvania-German/ Moravian tradition known as a Putz.  Apparently the fenced-in area was decorated with a crèche and a variety of figurines or little cardboard houses to create a little village.  I had never seen such a thing, but was excited to find pictures online of other similar stands in use.  The holes at the top of the fence posts were for Christmas lights! The clients father was going to take care of that.  A very different and unique Christmas project!
