Weekend vases

Had some fun with the lathe this weekend. Plum and cherry plum wood.

I really like the red heart of the cherry plum, looks the way mahogany should look if it was in scale. Next spring I'll see if I can get my hand on a larger trunk and saw some usable timber of the heart. Now I only have a small branch that fell off a neighbor's tree during a storm.

Very pretty and absolutely unique.

Good Luck finding the piece of wood you want/need. It'll mean we get to see more pretty stuff, hopefully.
