Selkie 4,483 Posted May 11, 2015 Shingling that gazebo shaped end of the porch must have been a real trick. Looks fabulous. Quote Link to comment
weezah 72 Posted May 11, 2015 Thanks Selkie. Shingling the end of the porch was a lot easier than the tower roof! has been! I have glued on almost 1,000 shingles to that part and so many angles to trim. I used full-width shingles as cresting on the porch roof and I wish I hadn't. It just looks too bulky. The other roof sections will be a bit different. I will post pics when it is done. Quote Link to comment
Creamcheese 414 Posted May 11, 2015 Beautiful job on your Garfield! Actually I like how you dealt with the shingles and to me they do not look too bulky at all. I haven't done my roof shingles yet so will have to give this a lot of thought on how to proceed when I do! I will look forward to seeing your pics on how you do the other roof sections. weezah 72 Posted May 11, 2015 The shingles were much easier than the siding. Its OK if they don't all line up or lay flat so I just used hot glue except on the rows that were likely to take wear (corners, top rows, etc). On those I used wood glue. Quote Link to comment
AandC construction 7 Posted May 11, 2015 You are doing a really, really nice job with this house. The colors are perfect and the shingles compliment it, just right! Quote Link to comment
