I agree. Without enlarging the picture, I thought you had made that many individual books! Even when enlarged, it still looked like it could have been individual books. what a great idea.

Its just paper that I folded & stuck into the shelves. (kinda' wonky)

I plan reprinting a less saturated image & trim the white part off.

On the front I thought I would make embossed lines, but that didn't work.

I might just shape one solid block of wood to match the height of each book?

Inspired idea! I agree you get a lot of bang for your buck with this illusion. I would try a wood block behind also.

I tried gluing a block of wood, then sawing/filing the top edge - it reminds of some kind vintage toy. Like minds!

I was just searching archives for ideas on this very technique - it looks great. I am thinking of doing the woodblock method, too - great photo - thanks for posting.
