Pillows.jpg

Debsrand56

I would have loved a hummingbird (because Mom would have, too), but couldn’t find one in half scale, so I stitched some onto her pillows with patterns I found here.  The pillows were worked in continental tent stitch over 40-count evenweave with a single strand of DMC floss.  That is a rufous hummingbird on the left; a Costa’s hummingbird on the right.  Both can be found in Arizona.

So cute! Are you cross-eyed yet?? :D

Fortunately, when you work this small, there aren't that many stitches!  I can't imagine doing a larger image in 40-count, but I know people do 50- or 60-count gauze.
