French shop attic or roof space?

Here Norm is checking the ceiling height in the attic.  A little short, maybe to be used for storage?  Or herb drying??  Would this have been a thing?

Oooh .... I think there may be some herbs drying, but also a great storage space for mysterious boxes and bundles and barrels of ingredients for special compounds. Also some bits of steam punk machinery. Even more mystery ... who knows what purpose they serve?

Kathie is right. Use it for storage and herb drying. You won’t necessarily notice how low the ceiling is without a person in there. And it would look great as an old attic space crammed full of stuff.

Yep - agree!!!!  There was bound to be a heap of stuff that needs to be kept in the dark and cool!!
