LibraryBookcaseWall.jpg

The main bookcase wall, with added artwork and some books.  I am making the books individually (although I am not putting real pages inside, only mat board), and it’s taking a while.  So far, I’ve made over 100 books, and I haven’t even filled half the shelves.  (And there’s another bookcase on the left-hand wall.)  As much as possible, I am using print-outs of vintage book covers for the books actually in the library: http://www.theodorerooseveltcenter.org/media/Files/Articles/ReadingWriting/1919-Inventory.pdf   Most of the spines may not be readable at that scale, but I know they’re there. From my half-scale recreation of the library at Theodore Roosevelt’s summer home, Sagamore Hill.  You can see a 360-degree view of the library when you click through the images here (about 6 clicks in):  https://artsandculture.google.com/exhibit/nQLiVHOCgDXMJA To read more about the process, please visit my blog at https://thehalfscaleofit.blogspot.com.

This is really a great room, so many details executed petfectly and beautifully by you.

On a side note it bugs me that mini books are so expensive.  I get that the really detailed books are more but even the most basic are not cheap.  I feel like you should be able to get a 100 plain 1/2-3/4 inch books for like $10.

Thanks for your kind words, Keith.  The cheapest I have found plain miniature books is here: https://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/basics-timeless-minis-miniatures/2318-50   $2.17 for eight books.  You could get 96 books for $17.36, which isn't too bad.  They are plain, but it's pretty easy to print covers on card stock or paper and recover them, if you're so inclined.  You can find some great printable book covers here:  https://www.dustjackets.com/
