I was so confused by the instructions about the placement of that beam under the stairs...I would never have figured it out without looking up some of the blogs on this site! The outer wall is just dry-fitted as I work on bricks for the fireplace.

I love the way the staircase winds around the wall like that!  Love the colours of the staircase and beam!  Did you stain or just lacquer?
