Voodoo dolls are in the basket by the cedar chest and a skull is on top of it. Yet over her bed is a crucifix with a palm frond and an icon of the Virgin Mary hangs above her Bible and rosary. Marie, as many Creoles, moved easily betwen both spiritual worlds. Her snake, Zombi, is in a basket by the armoir.
