1st Place Winner - Congratulations Intrinsicat (picture 1)
My Spring Fling is a half-scale flour windmill loosely based on the 12-sail windmills located in Mykonos, Greece. The gears run down to a millstone. If the gear teeth were made of something stronger than balsa wood, then yes, technically it could work. The millstone is actually paperclay-covered Styrofoam. There are four floors. The millstone is located in the basement, the flour scale is on the second floor along with a double pulley for raising bags of flour. The third floor is the office and the fourth floor takes the miller up to the gear area for maintenance. Of course there is a mouse problem, but the cats and owl are taking care of it. Most everything is made from scratch with the exception of the book shelf, wallpaper and a few Playmobil pieces.
