Hearth/Fireplace

Here is the hearth where it would go in the fireplace. The wood surround is not glued in yet - just leaning against the fireplace. I still need to make a fireplace mantle. I am assuming there was a piece that would have gone here since there is a slot. I didn't bother filling it in because the new mantle I make will cover the slot.

Very nice. Yes, that slot is for the mantle. I'm doing the Fairfield now and I love the house and the layout.

Thanks! I love this little Fairfield, Pat. However, I am having a problem trying to figure out all the stuff that needs to be done before and during construction. I am used to building the whole house and then doing the wiring, etc. Are you wiring yours?
