Testing floor layouts

Debora59

Yesterday was my first attempt at figuring out a pattern with a border. The border will continue into each room where I will change up the colors and patterns, I have tried a few patterns in the foyer, like a diamond outline in the center but didnt like it with the darker tiles that I used, will keep playing until I get it right.

As you can see I am testing two different designs on each side, I favor the left, but it would still have the border on the edge.

I agree, the staircase is wonderful! I like the flooring on the left (looking at the picture).

What are you using?

Thank you I built the staircase first, and used a foam core board mock up of the house to test it out. Its been fun:)

Thanks again someone gave me the best tip ever, the flooring in made from 1ft x 1ft sticky back tile cut to scale! I have 4 colors and can cut what ever shape or size is needed, and its the same thickness as the Maple Street flooring sheets so I am using strips of that for my thin border!

OHMYGOSH! that IS a great tip!! Gott remember that! Ok, so when you use these tiles, I would imagine you would have to do grout?

If I get them straightend no, I have been moving them around alot trying variations so mine are messed up at the moment. But grout could be optional

This looks fabulous! I just love that staircase, and the flooring. I'm wondering if I can shrink myself down and live there when it's finished. Hmmmmm...
