4 Porch Too tall

abloom

Before finishing the platform, I glued the gable on to see how it would all look. I've changed the porch a little from the kit, since I wanted to use these porch posts and brackets. I didn't like how far the gable roof hung down over everything, so I shortened it. But then, I decided the porch roof and the arch the brackets make over the door didn't look right. They were too high. I went to bed that night wondering if there were some way I could lower them, and it suddenly hit me that if I could, that would also be a solution to the different floor heights inside -- instead of raising the second floor, maybe I could lower the porch roof/gable floor to the level of the rest of the floor. It was 2 a.m. and I was feeling brave and wide awake, so I got up and tried it.
