  1. That's really interesting! How long do you boil it for? The same amount of time as you would bake it? Do pieces ever lose their shape? These questions might be fairly obvious, but I'm new to FIMO as well and have never heard of this before. Thanks!
  2. That's fantastic! Thank you for sharing, that's one of my favorite movies. You are so talented!
  3. Thank you! That is a very different method than I'm used to. Learn something new every day!
  4. I also brushed on a polyurethane, I think the fumes are a lot more bearable when you brush instead of spray. I used the Minwax Quick Drying Polyurethane (from home depot) on my skinny stick floors, and it worked great. Good luck!
  5. I'm a little bit technologically challenged as well, but I think that to post a video and not just a link you need a code to "embed" it. If that's possible then there's usually a link on the original video page that you copy and paste into your post. Other than that I'm not sure...
  6. I had that problem too, when I clicked on the text and hit the down arrow it scrolled down. Great job on the tutorial!
  7. Congratulations! That's fantastic! I've been eyeing the Fairfield, it's such a pretty house!
  8. Hi, and welcome to the forum! I'm also a newbie, I think you'll find that everyone here is very helpful. For your painting questions... did you prime the pieces first? That's helped a lot on my house as far as smooth paint. Also, what kind of brush are you using? I've been using cheap foam brushes and haven't had a problem with those, but the bristle brushes I use do leave streaks (someone else will probably have a better idea about brushes). I used Behr paint on my Orchid, and I love it. However, I've found that a lot of places sell sample sized paints (Ace Hardware, for one), and those are more mini-sized, if you're not planning on using the same color for every project you ever do.
  9. I found this video and article online for making clay hydrangeas. They make real life sized flowers, but it looks like it would be easy to do in mini (maybe even easier!). I'll have to try this later tonight and see if it really is as easy as it looks. The ones Martha('s staff) makes look fantastic! Clay Flowers
  10. The hour long one is definitely worth the time, I watched it right before I graduated from college. I didn't know that he'd passed away, thank you for posting that. He was very inspirational - he had an amazing outlook on his life and his disease.
  11. I don't know if this is where this goes, but Michaels is having their "dollar days" and a lot of great stuff is on sale. There are foam brushes 15/$1, and Fimo, Sculpey, and Premo are all on sale for $1 each. The sale lasts through Saturday, Aug 2nd. Happy shopping!
  12. I just got a really good deal on one on craigslist so I couldn't pass! I did a dry fit of mine, but I haven't finished it yet. There are pictures in my gallery. It really is a beautiful house, I'm so glad that I got it (and that you got one)! Mine is slowly starting to speak to me, it wants lights! I can just picture wicker on the gazebo porch, and moss climbing the outside walls... a squirrel in a window flower box?! Congratulations on yours!
  13. Jeffrey, that's the one! It's also called Grandmother Stover's. I just picked up some from a local mini store, and it's amazing for wallpaper! I was tired of fiddling with tacky glue and getting bumps and bubbles, and this is easy to spread (I used a foam brush) and dries perfectly. Everyone who does wallpaper needs this! Spackle, however, I have not tried, but it sounds like I'm missing out! editted twice for spelling
  14. You can find Moonsand in the toy department at stores like Target, and it bakes hard as well. I don't know if it comes in any neutral colors, but I use the bright colors a lot with the kids I work with. It's great! I never thought about using it for dollhouses...
