  1. oooh that IS sooo much easier than cutting and fitting all those curves! Thank you so very much for sharing your technique!!!
  2. ACTUALLY...I do have a teensy tiny hole punch that just might work...Will have to find it. If not I like the idea of a spot of paint brushed on...or better yet a display that the ends don't show! LOL
  3. Thanks for the link and the tips. I have a ton of real sewing thread, so I am looking forward to buying lots of these for Mom's shop! Now the labels....hmmm I honestly not sure if I will go that far. LOL BUT I am getting excited. Hubby is heading out for 3 weeks with work. so I think I will get started on the cottage. YEAH!!!
  4. Holly great tip, and depending on the price I might just try it! =D Barbaram thanks for giving me a name...I will be looking for them!
  5. Kathie, your shop is coming along brilliantly! I need to find some of those thread spool turnings. BTW my envelope came today!!!! You truly are a doll! Thank you so very much.
  6. Sammy, your villa is coming along beautifully! I love the color choices too! Looking forward to watching it come to life.
  7. ooooh Holly that is soooooo gorgeous! Thank you for sharing! Yep definitely looks like something that one might be able to accomplish in miniature! =D
  8. Oh man Kathie, bummer, but then again I have JoAnns', Michael's, Hobby Lobby and Hancock Fabrics as well as a Wal-mart that still sells fabric. SO I should be good. I told my mom about her shop after her birthday (and boy is she ever excited!!!) so she will be bringing some fabrics that she thinks will work too! Holly, could you elaborate on Seminole patchwork? I am a quilting novice, but anything to help make miniature quilts would be greatly appreciated. Lynette, what a ton of great ideas! My mom also has a quilt frame, and I have been looking into purchasing a miniature one, but if you have directions to make one I would LOVE to know how! =D I too have heard about printing on fabric and have seen some great pieces, but gosh the idea scares me! LOL
  9. Kathie, that shelf is fantastic! I am loving watching your DH come back to life, and as a quilt shop no less! =D
  10. hmmm must go check out my party supply place and see if they have any. I just love the cheater cloths!!! I don't quite grasp the concept of paper piecing either and I agree sewing something so tiny scares the bejeebers out of me too! But I too am gonna give it a whirl! Can't wait to see what you do, when you do it! ;-)
  11. ooooh it is looking fantastic! I can't wait to watch it come to life! =D
  12. oh my it sounds like everyone got (or is planning to get!) soem wonderful minis. I received my self gift box of 22 House of Miniatures kits! =D many of these will find their way into my mom's DH I am building for her. I also recieved 6 books on making dollhouses and miniatures -Both of Angie Scarr's food books -Making 1/12 scale Wicker Furniture by Sheila Smith -Build Your Own Inexpensive Dollhouse by EJ Tangerman (using one 4'x8' sheet of plywood!) -Making Miniature Gardens by Freida Gray and the one I'm most excited about... -Dolls' House Furniture (easy-to-make projects in 1/12th scale!) And for me the biggest gift was actually the sale of 3 of my polymer clay dragons! I am sad to see them go, but can't wait to see the 1/12 scale "school for dragons' their new owner is making! =D
  13. I would think that dry brushing would get you a nice 'spotty' or 'streaky' coloring on the sandpaper. =D
  14. Y'all up in the snowy North take care, and stay toasty! =D ----Deborah, down in rainy Georgia
