mks
Does anyone bother trying to use those tiny screws that come with door hinges? I have a package of Houseworks door hinges that I used to install the doors in my dollhouse. I was able to use the screws to attach the hinge to the door, but I found it impossible to use them when I tried to attach the other part of the hinge to the wall. Finally, I just used quick grab glue to attach the hinge to the side of the door opening. Does anyone have any tips for using these screws when attaching hinges? Or do manufacturers of miniature products include these things to frustrate us?
havanaholly
The hinges I have tried come with wee brass brads with rounded tops, so that even if you countersink the hinges like on a real 1:1 door the round heads will still cause the hinges to bind, so I don't use them for hinges. They work nicely with wee brass drawer hardware,, though.
mks
yeah, I called them screws, but they are really more like brads (or I suppose little nails). I will find other uses for them. Thanks!
fov
I use them. I glue the hinge first, and then add the nails for realism. Attaching to a piece of strip wood and then attaching that to the door opening makes it easier to get the hinges on than if you try to hinge directly to the opening.(In this case I waited to add the nails until after I'd glued in the doors, since the nails were thicker than the wood I attached the hinges to.) havanaholly
I used to sandwich narrow strips of chamois between the layers of th doors and the wall & doorframe. Now I pin-hinge. Emily, do your doors close without gapping?
fov
I used trim to hide the gaps.
