Lighthouse

I so badly want a lighthouse... but the San Fran will NOT cooperate.!!! and to be really honest... I am whispering... she does not look so good as a lighthouse... I guess in my head a lighthouse is a tall skinny building... I dont know... I have this little corner in my Foyer and I would LOVE to have a lighthouse sitting there... It would look so pretty.!!! I tried to figure out dimensions for one to build from scratch and well, I am not good at that.!! Just cant figure out those weird angles and stuff... a square house I can do... Why are angles so hard to figure....? I have a huge sheet of Luan that would be perfect.!! but I cant get the stop sign shape or the walls figured.!! LOL. so much thought in it ... LOL..! Well, I keep saying when I win the lotto I am gonna get me one... hmm, Hubby keeps smiling and saying you are gonna have to play..... But I cant.. cant afford it and screwed it all up something terrible the last time I tried.!!

Does anyone have a source for half scale printable wallpaper? I have tons of 1:12 scale I guess I can resize in an editor but it would be nice to just print some up. Thanks

I really like the greenleaf houses - that much I have learned. This half scale is driving me crazy! I have not ordered a bed set yet. I like the Lee's line, but it seems that from the measurments they will be too large compared to my kitchen. I can't find a lot of accessories - like a TV. I hate to order anything yet, and not be happy with it. For me, it has taken the fun out of my hobby.

At least now I know I want the Jefferson. And the full scale Chantilly - maybe 2 to bash them together for a larger house.

I will finish this house, as it is adorable, but I have had to walk away from her for a bit.

"Distressing" furniture tips?

O.K., so no, I'm not in distress, I would like to cause distress!!!

How do you "distress" miniature furniture, especially in 1/2 scale? I would like to make some pieces that I have, (from the Golden Loon kits) into "aged" style, (the Fairfield is going Shabby-Chic!) but I'm not quite sure how...any tips?

Silk leaf roof, anyone tried it?

I want to decoupage the roof of Kolbi's house with silk leaves from some of these flowers I've bought. Has anyone tried it and know if the colors will run? Or a better idea? It needs to be glued down firmly, she's only going to be 3!

I have been so busy lately making miniature mail and items for Etsy, and then trying to take pictures of them with 2 kids around let alone work on mini projects that I have not been on the forum as much as I like.

Crown Molding

The only real work left to do on my Princess Anne is to put in the crown molding. I have it painted, but the angles just have me completely bamboozled! I keep thinking I have it pictured in my head the way it should be cut to fit around corners (and, lord help me, all the corners aren't right anlges), but when I get ready to cut I realize that, nope, that's not right.

Any hints?

It's a 10 room, 3 story, Greek revival.. With about a hundred coats of paint.. I've been told to use a dremel, sand it (latex paint.. Not so easy) or strip it w paint remover....

Anyone have any ideas??

I just bought a RGT Foxhall Manor, completely assembled and done very well! I posted pictures to my new Album. The most mind blowing part is I only paid $60. Once in a lifetime! I am floored. I know you all would understand how thrilled I am. I had to drive an hour.

section C, #3, : what does it mean by "base", does this refer to the first floor ?
I am almost finished with the stairs and the instructions say to sit assembled stairs on base ???

Ok, I've started looking for a particular mini-goodie..in the hopes that I won't have to make one.

Anyone ever stumble across a tiny, magnifier craft lamp? You know..the kind that we were just discussing, for our own use..to help our old eyes see what we're doing when making minis? I need one for Raptor Station..the fossil hunters use them all the time to help them see, so they can chip away the junk from their bones.

If anyone finds one in their travels, please let me know. Color doesn't matter.

It doesn't need to have moving parts. It just has to 'be', period! If I have to, I'll take a stab at making it...but I'm feeling lazy on this particular thingy.

I have just received my Pierce. I am going to start on it tomorrow. Among all the questions rolling around in my head it occurred to me that I know nothing about ceilings. What do you put on the ceilings if you don't want to wallpaper them?

Has anyone had terrific luck with Cir-Kit ceiling adaptors?

Maybe I didn't because I was installing it upside down with a mirror, or

Maybe I didn't because Cir-Kit said to cut the wires down to 2 inches sticking out, and then I accidently cut one wire off!!!

Does anyone else love 'em like I do?

I read somewhere about stacking craft paint bottles horizontally in a basket. That worked, sorta, except I couldn't tell what color was what without pulling out a bunch of similar-looking bottles.

So ... I labeled the bottles (all 98 of 'em in three baskets) on their little round bottoms, arranged them by color family, and then made up a little book of paint chips so I can tell (without pulling out bottles) how much of a color I have, who makes the color, and (writing on the back of the chip) what houses I used which color on. The chips are about 1.5" x 2.5", and I cut some clear plastic to make a front and back cover.

The fact that I can just grab the paint book and dash off to the latest sale at Michael's, knowing I won't come home with yet another bottle of dark hunter green and still not have any navy blue, didn't motivate me at all.

I knew in advance that I was going to start jonsing for my minis before the week was out and I was right. I'm *such* a mini junkie. So I'd prepared some little floral projects that could be done on a tray while sitting on the couch---just some snippets of floral pieces, a few hanging baskets and planters, and my hot glue gun. I'm never adept with making mini floral arrangements but that doesn't matter because I like to do it anyway and with two wrap-around porches, my Tennyson needs lots of hanging flower baskets and planters.

Those were fun! I still have several flower pots to play with and a really cool white wire oriental carriage that I'm going to turn into a lawn ornament/planter. It's all instant gratification and nothing that requires a lot of effort. I can work on them for three minutes or thirty minutes and still feel like I've gotten my mini-fix.

So, since we're all mini-addicts here we can speak freely amongst ourselves. How long can you go without mini-ing and what do you do for a quick fix when you aren't able to build?

Help! I can't think up a name for this store

The old Newberg restoration is well underway and will be my State Fair entry in a few weeks. The house will be an emporium of several stores instead of a family home. My tired brain keeps twisting and turning to find a catchy name for the collection of stores under one roof. I can't think of anything that would tie the all together (books/floral-tearoom/sewing-yarn/Oriental antiques/and a tiny kids play area that will look like a treehouse under one attic roof eave), so I'm just looking for a nice name for the actual house. Each little store/room will probably have a name outside the door ("Blue Lotus Antiques", "Yarning for You" sewing and knitting, "Between the Covers" books, "Maisie & Lily" floral treasures and tearoom, "The Treehouse" play area).
I've had a few ideas, but nothing is very zingy:
"Bee Hive" Emporium
"Pewter Rose" (one of our favorite eating spots in Charlotte NC has this name)
"Ivy Trellis" Treasures
I'd be so happy to have more suggestions!

Can anyone in Canada tell me if the Mc Donalds Madame Alexander dolls are offered there and which ones if they are, I am in USA at moment and the ones here are Alice and Mad Hatter, Red Riding Hood and Wolf, Cinderella and Prince, and Hanse and Gretal. So if Canada has them too I would love to know so my mom can pick them up for me thanks all! I type in searches for these dolls and web gives me the wrong answers! Answers I keep getting are from 2008!

We are thinking about spackling the inside of the Glencroft, does anyone have any tips for this?

Should I do as I go? or do before assembly?
What type of spackle do you recommend?
Instead of white we were thinking a light ivory to warm it up a bit...do you just mix it the paint with the spackle?
How long do you wait for it to dry?
