Some of the gardening magazines give me ideas. Sometimes the houses in the "background" give me ideas. A lot of times they don't show much of the buildings though. Just driving around sometimes helps also. No special magazine that I can think of though' Sometimes something just pops out when I am leafing throu.

Most of my inspiration comes out of my head, from personal experience or imagination (never saw houseboat with ballroom in real life ... lol). I Google for details sometimes.

I like to browse through www.houzz.com once in awhile. You can search on that website for a particular thing you want, i.e. chimneys. If you wanted to get some ideas on "chimneys" - different styles, how they fit into the wall, mantels - whatever. You can also file the ones you'd like to come back to.

I get inspired/ started with magazines like Architectural Digest and American Bungalow, or books like Terence Conran's The House Book.

Lately I've been looking over the Arthur Rutenberg Homes site, but I also buy the occasional house plans type magazines or online searches.

I use the Flipboard app (free!) on my iPad and you can add all kinds of reading material (also free), including decorating magazines. Some of the scenes are very drool-worthy.

I think she's asking if there are any recommended magazines available for the flipboard application on the iPad, Holly.

My favorite is Veranda for modern ideas. Most of my other ideas start in my warped little mind....

I have installed House Beautiful, Wallpaper*, Craft, and Etsy, all of which have been inspirational. I have also installed Weddings (because I am planning mine), and sometimes there are some inspirational photographs.

When you open Flipboard, under Content, if you click on "Living," there's a lot of cool stuff, including "Home," "Lifestyle", "Apartment Therapy", and "Freshome" among others. I am going to download them and check them out, too.

I'm a visual/hands-on person, so I go look at stuff in real life. I want to touch the brick, stone, etc., and take pix I need.

Most of the houses I want to build are far too large for dh scale, but I can dream. . .
