stantilda
Does anyone have an insured collection? Are collections covered by regular home owner's insurance? I record all my purchases. It is frightening to see the investment in the houses. I know there is collection insurance, but I do not know if it is worth it. chesterfieldzoo
I just keep receipts for everything in another place and have a video of the real house with all it's contents. I had inquired about collection insurance and it was outrageous. So I just had the contents value raised.
Minis On The Edge
I do and we just increased it last month because I have so much more stuff than I did even 1 year ago. I keep receipts in my fireproof lock box but I am always worried that they will not consider those things so pictures stored online really help! sunshines_minis
Insurance for collections is to hard to get a good deal on. You can insure it. Insure it for a set amount is cheepest. It still runs so high that you can't afford it. Installing a top grade security system in recommended. They want you to have one anyway if you ensure it. The large things such as a dollhouse itself can be claimed on homeowners. For cost to buy a new kit. Other then that I don't know what to say. if you find a collection insurance site let me know. Hallowell
We looked into it this year and State Farm Ins. was going to charge $27 for every $1,000. the collection was worth. We decided not to, yikes. ;)
Cuppa-Tea
We have the option for a rider on our homeowners policy for collectibles, but I don't know how much extra it costs. Since we have State Farm it's probably the same as what Hallowell said.
