Member of the Month - Meet Annie (Fantail)
    By Heidi Cleveland

    Congrats Annie!

Happy New Year everyone! I love January. I like the feeling of a fresh new start. You put away your holiday decorations and you sweep away the dust of the following year. There are things to look forward to like new possibilities and the coming of Spring!  I am just optimistic that this is going to be a better year for all.

With all that said, I would love to introduce you to our January Member of the Month, Annie (Fantail). Annie has been a member of the Greenleaf forum since March 21, 2008.  Annie is a wonderful edition to the many talented miniaturists on the forum.
Annie proclaims that she hails from" the land of Ahs", Kansas. She lives with her daughter, son in law, granddaughter, and grandson. There is never a dull moment in her house with a five year old and a two year old running around. Annie`s son in law and granddaughter are her biggest supporters. Eric likes to do the electricity on the dollhouses. He is a big guy and it is quite a sight watching him handle those teeny little brads in those big hands. Her granddaughter, Reaghan, is her "right hand man" and helps with all aspects of building and decorating. She is also be best primer this side of Mississippi!

    Congrats Annie!

Annie`s daughter insists that instead of being one of those crazy old cat ladies, Annie is the crazy old dollhouse lady. She frequently urges Annie to back away from Craig`s list. Her son, Seth,  is a film student in Chicago and thinks it is cool that Annie has learned a lot of history and architecture. He promises to use her for sets in his future blockbusters. He bought her the Princess Anne that started this wonderful obsession a few Christmases ago. Annie loves all aspects of the build. She does not even mind shingling her houses. The only thing that seems to bother her is wallpaper. She says that her templates never seem to turn out right. One thing that Annie would love to do in the future is make miniatures of some of the old buildings in her own town. The building that her business resides in is a fabulous old Art Deco design and she thinks it would be cool to replicate.

    Congrats Annie!

Annie has many dreams and ideas of what she would love to do. Her dream home is the Queen Anne. She has been searching Kansas Craig`s list for it but to no avail. She and Reaghan want to do a creepy house. Not a haunted one but a really creepy one! They will possibly do that with the Granville that Annie has stashed under her bed. She loved a bar roombox that she made for a friend who owns the little neighborhood bar. Annie was very apprehensive to deliver it. She wondered if people would think she was a little off, loopy, eccentric, or worse. However, the response was amazing. There was so much interest and appreciation. Annie also loved doing "Perky Pete`s" dollhouse. It was a seedy little adult entertainment establishment that she build for the Greenleaf 2009 Spring Fling Contest. There was a lot of giggling with that one. I bet there was!

    Congrats Annie!

Annie plans for the coming year include visiting her son Seth in Chicago in the spring. They have decided to visit during the miniature shows there. I hope you find lots of treasures Annie. We will all love to see the eye candy.  She is wondering if she can drag him along with her to meet all the Greenleafers at the show. Annie needs to learn to solder. Right now she is building a miniature Kiss set for a customer. She needs to solder some scaffolding. I cannot wait to see that. She is also continuing her work on the San Fran.

Annie`s only advice to give is to visit Greenleaf often and also try your local library for resources.  She checks out many miniature and architectural books. She reads them cover to cover for ideas.

You can visit Annie`s gallery here and see how talented she is.

For participating as the Member of the Month, Annie will receive a $25 gift certificate to the Greenleaf store.
